Dr. Marta Orlando

Dr. Marta Orlando is a post doctoral scientist working at Charité University Hospital in Berlin. She performs electron microscopy experiments to investigate the shape and function and plastic changes of presynaptic terminals. She joined DNO in 2017, first as a Jury member. She was enthusiastic about the organisation and joined the Academic Team soon thereafter. Janina Kupke

Janina Kupke is a PhD student at the University of Heidelberg, where she finished her master’s degree in 2018. During her PhD, she tries to unravel the molecular and cellular mechanisms which underlie the stabilisation of memories in order to become long-lasting. Janina joined DNO in 2016, where she became part of the academic team and took over the registration for Heidelberg. Dr. Ionut Dumitru

Dr. Ionut Dumitru received his PhD in neurobiology from Heidelberg University. His PhD work, investigating adult hippocampal neurogenesis, was preformed in the laboratory of Professor Hannah Monyer at the German Cancer Research Centre. Currently, Dr. Dumitru as a postdoctoral fellow researching neural stem cells and brain regeneration in the laboratory of Professor Jonas Frisén at the Karolinska Institute. Dr. Ina Simeonova

Dr. Ina Simeonova finished her PhD at the University of Heidelberg in 2016. During her academic career she focused first on basic mechanisms of neurogenesis and thereafter on the differentiation of human induced pluripotent stem cells into neural lines for transplantation into the damaged spinal cord of rodent animal models of spinal cord injury.
